The Goldstream Bacterial Endotoxin Test is a highly sensitive and rapid diagnostic test that detects lipopolysaccharide (LPS) qualitatively in human serum. The assay is used to provide rapid diagnosis reference for the clinicians in identifying Gram-negative bacterial infection early in the disease process.
The assay is a protease zymogen-based chromogenic assay for the qualitative detection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in the serum of patients with symptoms of, or medical conditions predisposing the patient to, Gram-negative bacteria infection. The serum concentration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a major cell-wall component of various medically important Gram-negative bacteria, can be used as an aid in the diagnosis of Gram-negative Bacteria Infection.
lipopolysaccharide (LPS) can specifically activate Factor C and Factor B in the main reagent, and the serine protease zymogen, etc. The activated Factor B converts the inactive pro-clotting enzyme to the active clotting enzyme, which in turn cleaves pNA from the chromogenic peptide substrate, Boc-Leu-Gly-Arg-pNA, creating a chromophore pNA that absorbs at 450 nm. There are additive in the reagent which can inhibit the activation of Factor G.
